6 Common Hammer Crusher Failures and Solutions
Working Principle
The motor drives the rotor to rotate at high speed in the crushing chamber. Material enters through the feed inlet and is crushed by the impact, shear, and grinding action of the high-speed hammer. At the bottom of the rotor, there is a screen plate. Material smaller than the screen holes passes through and discharges, while oversized material remains for further crushing.

6 Common Failures and Their Solutions
1. Bearing Overheating
Causes:
- Grease deterioration or contamination
- Insufficient or excessive grease
- Damaged bearing
Solutions:
- Check and refill proper grease regularly (fill only 50% of the bearing space)
- Clean bearings and replace grease if contaminated
- Replace damaged bearings promptly
2. Low Output
Causes:
- Improper feeding, uneven material supply
- Screen bar gaps blocked
Solutions:
- Adjust feeding speed and quantity
- Stop the machine to clean blockages
3. Oversized Product
Causes:
- Hammer wear
- Screen bar breakage
Solutions:
- Regular inspection and replace worn hammers or broken screen bars
4. Knocking Noise Inside the Crusher
Causes:
- Non-crushable material enters the crushing chamber
- Loose liner bolts
- Broken internal parts
Solutions:
- Stop and remove foreign objects
- Tighten bolts and check regularly
- Replace damaged or severely worn parts
5. Excessive Vibration
Causes:
- Hammer imbalance due to uneven wear or incorrect replacement
- Broken hammer or bent/broken pin shaft
- Loose foundation bolts
Solutions:
- Select hammers according to specifications and ensure rotor balance
- Replace broken hammers and pin shafts
- Tighten foundation bolts
6. Knocking Noise at the Flexible Coupling
Causes:
- Loose pin shaft
- Worn elastic ring
Solutions:
- Tighten pin shaft nut
- Replace worn elastic ring
