How to Maintain Crushing Equipment in Winter

1. Conduct Pre-Start Inspections

Cold temperatures cause metal contraction and thicker lubricants. Before starting, check bearings, belts, motors, and bolts. Make sure there is no ice, blockage, or stiffness, and preheat when necessary.

2. Use the Right Lubricant

Low temperatures increase oil viscosity. Switch to winter-grade lubricants with better low-temperature fluidity, and refill on time to prevent bearing or gear wear.

3. Protect Motors and Diesel Engines

Keep electric motors dry and insulated. For diesel-powered machines, use winter diesel, check engine oil and antifreeze, and prevent the fuel system from freezing.

4. Keep the Machine Clean

Ice, dust, and wet material can accumulate in winter. After each shift, clean the crushing chamber and conveyor system to avoid frozen material affecting the next start.

5. Avoid Loaded Start-Up

Cold weather increases resistance. Always start the machine with no load, let it run for a few minutes until lubrication is adequate, and then begin feeding.

6. Strengthen Daily Inspection

Steel becomes more brittle in low temperatures. Inspect hammers, jaw plates, screens, and liners more frequently for cracks or excessive wear, and replace them in time.

7. Apply Proper Shutdown and Storage Protection

When the machine is not used for a long time, empty the chamber, cut the power, and apply anti-freeze, moisture-proof, and anti-rust measures to ensure smooth operation in the next season.
